Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court Jon Gegenheimer received the Environmental Award from Woodmen of the World Lodge 620 in Westwego for his work on litter reduction and for helping establish Jefferson Parish’s Environmental Court, which addresses parish code violations causing community blight.

Gegenheimer stated: “I am honored to have the recognition of the Woodmen of the World fraternal organization for my work to clean up Jefferson Parish. This cleanup effort is ongoing and reflects our commitment to maintaining quality of life in our community.”

The post also recognized David Benton, the clerk’s senior software programmer, who received an Innovation Award from the Bureau of Governmental Research in September 2011 for enhancing JeffNet and developing mortgage, conveyance, alert, e-filing, and e-recording systems.

Additionally, the office announced new jury administration options for citizens aged 70 and older, allowing them to claim temporary or permanent exemptions from jury service under Louisiana Constitutional Amendment 5:33 — eliminating the need to re-assert the exemption with each summons.
