The Louisiana Supreme Court and State Bar Association honored Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court Jon Gegenheimer for receiving the National Center for State Courts’ G. Thomas Munsterman Award for Jury Innovation.
Louisiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Bernette J. Johnson remarked, “In honoring Jon Gegenheimer with its prestigious G. Thomas Munsterman Award for Jury Innovation, the National Center for State Courts has turned the nation’s eyes to Louisiana and the 24th Judicial District Court.”
The award recognizes individuals who have achieved significant improvements or innovations in jury administration. Gegenheimer’s recognition stemmed from six major accomplishments:
- Enhanced convenience for prospective jurors and employers
- Substantially reduced juror costs
- Secured legislation establishing one day/one trial service
- Modernized juror selection and summoning through technology
- Reduced jury summoning days from five to four by eliminating Friday pools
- Decreased jury pool size through effective computer technology and data analysis
This recognition followed Gegenheimer’s 2014 designation as Public Official of the Year by the National Association of County Recorders, Election Officials and Clerks.
